Back in the day we had backyard parties all the time. We played cards, dominoes, grilled some chicken and steaks (hot dogs for the kiddies) and of course....played music. Back then, we had a coupe of choices to listen to our music. Either turn up the music loud enough so we can hear it outside, or have some long speaker wire handy so we can place the speakers in the backyard.
Looking back at it, both of those options were not really options at all. It was the only way to go, but they were not user friendly.
Turning up the music with the speakers still in the house was fine as long as everyone was outside. But what if you had to go into the house to go to the bathroom? As you walked through the house, you were damn near blowing out your eardrums as you made your way to the restroom!
Extra long speaker wire? That sounds good on paper, but you were not 100% sure that the speakers would still work after the event. People could trip over the wire, thus knocking over the speaker. If there was a pool in the backyard, you had to make sure people did not splash toward the speakers. Then there was my number one pet peeve. People thinking that the top of the speakers were their personal coffee table. If you were not careful, there would be at least three drinks sitting on top of each speaker.
And then the cups would get knocked over. Those people had to know that the speakers would vibrate, right?
Today, we do not have that problem. Luckily we have Bluetooth technology, so we can just get some speakers, mount them on the side of the house, and we are ready to go!
There are several speaker options out there, so we thought we would break it down for you so you don't have to do all that homework.
We will review three different types, so you can just choose the one that will suit your needs.
Best Outdoor Speakers With Bass
Pyle Waterproof and Bluetooth 6.5'' Indoor/Outdoor Speaker System
The Pyle brand has been in existence for many years, and they manufacture just about everything. In addition to speakers, they do microphones, headphones, DJ equipment and more. Because of their longevity and the reputation of their products, I usually lean toward companies like this.
This is an 800-Watt system within a 6.5in woofer. It's Bluetooth, but you can also plug in a device directly into the speakers through RCA connectors. I love Bluetooth, but you will get better sound if you plug the device directly into the speakers.
It is a active/passive speaker setup. This means that one speaker has all of the inputs and the power cord, and you just plug the other one (the passive) into the main (active).
Here are the specs of the system:
- 2-channel amplifier
- 2-way stereo sound
- Waterproof casings IP44
- Rust proof speaker grills
- Gold plated speaker plug terminals
- Rotary volume control
- Heavy duty plastic cabinet
- Indoor/Outdoor use
The system comes with a bracket if you want to mount it on a wall. As mentioned earlier, there is a 6.5in woofer and a 1in tweeter, so you get the separation of sound.
Bluetooth streaming is simple. All you have to do is turn on the Bluetooth function on your mobile device and it will connect right away if the device is within the 30 foot range.
There is also a 5.25in speaker size, so if you want to go smaller, you have that option. I personally would go with the larger version.
You have the choice of colors....white or black.
If you are looking for the best Bluetooth speaker for an outdoor party, I believe these are your best bet.
For the price, you really cannot go wrong with these.
Sound Appeal Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Weatherproof Patio Speakers
Coming in at a close second is the Sound Appeal brand. They specialize in the Bluetooth speaker arena. They also make sound bars for your TV and also a specialized "rock" speaker, which we will talk about next.
The Sound Appeal is an 80 watt system with a 6.5in woofer. This is strictly a Bluetooth speaker system, so unlike the Pyle speakers, you cannot plug a device directly into the speakers. The setup is also a active/passive, and the power source is a low power 12 volt input.
Here are the specs of the system:
- Bluetooth 4.0
- 25 foot power supply cord
- Weatherproof power switch
- Built in bracket to hang on the wall
- 2-way stereo sound
- Woofer emits strong bass and clarity
- Rust free aluminum grille
- Weatherproof design
Bluetooth streaming is simple. All you have to do is turn on the Bluetooth function on your mobile device and pair the device with the included code. You can stream within a 60 foot range. You can also adjust the volume through your mobile device.
You have your choice of colors...black or white.
Compared to the Pyle, the Sound Appeal has a lower speaker wattage and you do not have the choice to plug a device directly into the speakers. The sound is slightly inferior, but overall they are a good choice for outdoor speakers.
Sound Appeal Bluetooth Outdoor Rock Speaker
Stay with me here. Sound Appeal also has a more decorative speaker system, if you are into that. These speakers are in a case that looks like a rock. This will fit in nicely in your backyard.
You can stream to these speakers up to 100 feet, they also have a 6.5in woofer with a 1in tweeter. It is an active/passive setup, and you can also control the volume from your mobile device.
These speakers are a little less powerful, as they sport a 40 watt amplifier, so if you are looking for something that blends in your yard, you may want to consider these.
They come in two colors, Slate and Canyon Sandstone.
OSD Wireless Bluetooth Outdoor Weatherproof Patio Speaker
OSD is a good brand, and they make several additional products, including amplifiers, subwoofers, cables, wall plates and TV mounts. It is fair to say that they know what they are doing in the home entertainment space.
This speaker set also has a 6.5in woofer and a 1in tweeter. It has an output of 100 watts, and it is straight Bluetooth. You cannot plug any devices directly into the speaker set. Like the other options, this is an active/passive speaker set.
Here are the specs of the system:
- Bluetooth 3.0
- IP67 power supply
- Polypropylene Cone Woofer
- Composite Resin Low Resonator Cabinet
- 2-way stereo sound
- 25 foot speaker wire included
- Bluetooth range 120ft-150ft
- Weatherproof design
These actually look the best out of the three that we talk about here. 100 watts is actually really good, and the sound quality is excellent.
Bluetooth streaming is simple. All you have to do is turn on the Bluetooth function on your mobile device and pair the device with the included code. You can stream within a 30-50 foot range. You can also adjust the volume through your mobile device.
As with the others, you have a choice between the black and white speakers. They also have a rock style and also a frog style. You can see those options once you click the link to go to the product page.
This model would be good for you if you are looking for a speaker set with a mid-range power output.
Best party speakers
These are all good choices for you, but there are some differences. The Pyle has the bigger sound and the ability to connect a device to the speakers. The Sound Appeal has a larger streaming range, and the OSD has a better sound than the Sound Appeal but not as rich as the Pyle.
We hope this review was helpful for you to find the best bluetooth speaker for your outdoor party!
